Frequently Asked Questions (and a few myths taken care of!)
Everyone hopes a marriage is forever and hence you'll probably only organise your wedding reception once. Hence you can't be expected to know the ins and outs of every detail of weddings and wedding insurance. Luckily, that's where we come in! The team at Protectyourwedding has worked on literally hundreds of wedding receptions (from small to big to the quite extravagant) and we decided to ask so real couples for their questions in order to answer them here. This page will no doubt grow and grow, but we hope that you'll find something of use here!
1. Wedding Insurance is a one-off payment
Couples have told us that they've put off buying a wedding insurance policy until "nearer the date" because they assumed that it was a monthly charge! Well, we can set your mind at rest here. You should really think about a wedding insurance policy from the time you book your venue, or other supplier onwards. That way you cover the deposits that you pay (which in the case of wedding venues can be quite substantial) in case something were to go wrong. Should something happen to your venue between the time you book and the big day itself it's good to have the confidence that you're fully covered.
2. If something goes wrong, I can sue
Yes - this is normally correct. However you need to be sure that your venue can meet your claim, which if it has closed down for financial reasons (or even fire) isn't necessarily guaranteed. Likewise if your professional supplier goes out of business, of doesn't have their own professional liability insurance, persuing a claim against them may be troublesome, costly, and even fruitless.
