5th August 2008 - Wrapit goes into administration
You can't have failed to notice the furore caused by the collapse of one of the UK's leading wedding list services - many couples will be disappointed that gifts ordered through this service look unlikely to materialise now the company is under the control of appointed administrators KPMG.
Customers who paid on their credit card should seek a refund under the Consumer Credit Act from the their credit card provider. Under the act, the financial institution is jointly liable with the supplier - most have streamlined processes in place to make such refunds to customers
Customers who paid on their debit card may not be so lucky, as these transactions are not covered by the act. However, some banks who offer 'packaged' accounts (i.e. one with a monthly fee in return for various benefits) do offer a similar level of protection on debit card payments for a specified period as a benefit of the packaged account. If you have such a packaged account you are best advised to contact your bank to check whether this cover applies to you.
Will I be covered by wedding insurance?
Most wedding insurance policies cover gifts from their delivery to the wedding venue or bride and groom onwards - however you may find yourself covered by a comprehensive policy. Check your policy wording and, if you believe you are able to make a claim, contact your insurer directly.
